"Kila ndege hurudi kiota chake"
Every bird returns to its nest.
After years away, it’s time for us to return to a place that’s shaped us in different ways: Tanzania. A country full of memories and experiences that have stayed with us—and many of those started with a bicycle.
Bert used to cycle through the Pugu Hills on weekends, exploring the quiet forest trails. Adriaan learned to ride a bike in the garden, training wheels and all. Hanna commuted by bike through the chaos of Dar es Salaam, from home to the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute, where she worked on her thesis research.
Now it’s time to get back on the bike—this time for Shirati Hospital, a crucial healthcare provider in northern Tanzania. From 8th to 15th of November, we will be mountainbiking through beautiful, rough terrain around the region of Mwanza and Lake Victoria for this great cause!
Shirati serves a large rural population with limited access to medical care. The hospital runs on minimal resources, but the needs are immense. Here, every euro can quite literally support things like:
- Developing treatment plans for patients with bone fractures
- Early detection of cardiovascular disease before it becomes life-threatening
- Free treatment and patient education for schistosomiasis
- Local production of fortified peanut butter to fight malnutrition
- Providing one healthy free meal daily for all patients
Your support goes directly toward helping people access the care they deserve.
Whether you donate via the link below, share, or just cheer us on—we appreciate it deeply.
Asante sana, many thanks!
